This Moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. -Amanda Soule

Corners of My Home

Since we moved into this house one year ago I have slowly been making it a home. All the windows finally have curtains, all the walls have been painted, and slowly but surely we are doing everything we have been wanting to do with it. There is still a lot to do, but we are taking baby steps.
So, here is one of my projects that I have finally completed and I am pretty excited I got it done.
A chalkboard wall!
The kids love it and I am going to use it this summer for my "fake homeschooling." I don't get to home school for real, so the summer time is the only time I can pretend. I'm excited!
Also I hung a wire across the bottom of the shelf and decorated some clothespins to hang pictures from.
It's an awesome way to display artwork! I got the idea from my dear friend Erin. http://ourpandemoniumparadise.wordpress.com/2011/01/31/fancy-clothes-pins/

Well that's it for today. Come visit again tomorrow!

Imagination

So I have been so totally inspired by all the blogs I read on a daily basis. I mean, these women are my heroes FOR REAL! So instead of just dreaming about having a life like theirs "someday" I have been trying my best with what I've got to make it real.
Someday I dream of a life with a garden, farm animals, very little to no TV and internet, home school, and being outside whenever we want despite the horrible Oklahoma weather. I feel like this would be the best life for me and my family to have. I know some people do not agree with this but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Little by little I have been trying to refocus my kids away from the TV and computer games and get them outside. They do play outside quite a bit, but they do not use their imagination very much. Yesterday I made a "fairy land" for them to play with and to use their imagination. After 5 mins my oldest daughter, Jadyn, was sitting in her room watching TV. I took her back outside and sat down with them and showed them how to play. So, they sat there about 10 mins and played then moved on to other things. As disappointed as I was, I realized I should not expect them to just jump right in to something they aren't used to. Humans are a creature of habit and once we get stuck in a routine, it's hard to change. I will continue to keep opening up my children's imagination everyday. Hopefully, sometime soon, they will understand.

Hula Hoop!

This Morning...

* Jadyn is off to school.
* Layla is content, for this short moment.
* Freddie the cat is lounging peacefully.
* I am practicing self control and continuing on my diet.

It's a beautiful, "normal," boring morning. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm baaack!!
I have decided to start a NEW blog so this is where you can find me! I'm still a little confused as to how all this works, but I will figure it out. I hope to write a blog everyday Mon-Fri, but I may skip a few days here and there.
So, check back here on Tues morning for my first official post!
